Jake Paul instructed ‘that is what Muhammad Ali would consider you’ after Mike Tyson combat
Muhammad Ali’s grandson and current boxer Nico Ali Walsh has labelled Jake Paul an “embarrassment” after watching his fight with Mike Tyson on Friday evening. He suggested Ali would have called him out for his actions.
Paul secured a comfortable victory over Tyson, winning by over six rounds on all three of the judges scorecards. However, not many have praised his performance as he failed to land many significant strikes throughout the bout while admitting that he did not want to knock out his opponent.
Tyson had been nursing a knee injury which was evident as he walked toward the ring. He ran out of steam after just one round and struggled to get near Paul, looking slow and sluggish as the fight progressed.
Despite Tyson struggling to put together any sort of offense in the fight, Paul himself failed to land many significant strikes. Instead, he won the fight with his speed and athleticism, giving the legendary 58-year-old little chance to keep up with him in the ring.
Paul had been criticised coming into the fight for making a fight with a man 31 years his senior, while stating that he has title aspirations. His lacklustre performance is unlikely to turn any heads from Friday evening, reports the Mirror US.
Boxing’s new kid on the block Jake Paul has been branded “an embarrassment to this sport” by none other than Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Taking to Twitter, Ali Walsh didn’t hold back, saying: “Jake Paul is an embarrassment to this sport. If my grandfather was still around, he’d call him out. Absolutely no shame… Love you Mike.”
The young boxer revealed that he turned down a hefty payday to throw hands with Paul, explaining his decision post-fight: “Morally it was an easy choice. I said no before I even heard the numbers. I believe it was upwards of $3 million. Of course, that would be money that I’ve never made in my career. That would be money that I’ve never even seen before. But is everything really money? That’s how I was raised.
“You’ve got to ask yourself how much does your pride cost? How much are you willing to sell out for? Because that’s exactly how it is, at least in my book. Anyone else can do it. But for me, I’m an Ali, I hold my name in such higher weight, I don’t believe I should be playing in the mud with the likes of Jake Paul.”
Paul hit back, acknowledging the offer and calling Ali Walsh a “fraud”: “I been trying to fight this fraud and now he admitted he ducked me but calling me a circus act.”
Meanwhile, boxing stars like Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, and Tony Bellew have thrown their hats into the ring, eager for a showdown with Paul, who boasts an 11-1 record, while Tyson marked his return to professional boxing since 2005.
