Suspect accused of trying to homicide a woman, who remains to be crucial in hospital, and three males in a Dalston drive by capturing seems in court docket

A suspect accused of attempting to murder a nine-year-old girl and three men who were injured in a horrific drive-by shooting appeared in court today.

The girl suffered life changing injuries after a gunman opened fire outside a Turkish restaurant in Dalston on May 29.

Javon Riley, 32, of Enfield, north London, denies four charges of attempted murder in relation to the girl, who cannot be named, along with Mustafa Kiziltam, 37, Kenan Aydogdu, 44, and 42-year-old Ali Nasser.

The three men had been sitting outside the restaurant.

Riley was arrested following a vehicle stop in Chelsea Embankment on August 9.

The Recorder of London, Judge Mark Lucraft, KC, earlier said it was ‘clear’ there were others involved.

Riley appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday wearing a grey prison tracksuit.

A provisional three week trial date is set for 21 July next year.

Judge Lucraft extended the time Riley can be kept in custody until 28 July.

Riley will next appear in court for a pre-trial review on 21 March.

In July, Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, lead for policing in Hackney had made a renewed appeal for information relating to the shooting.

He said: ‘Our investigation team has been working tirelessly to piece together what happened and to identify the dangerous individuals responsible for this shocking and indiscriminate act of violence.

‘They are now in a position to release images of a suspect on a motorcycle that they are working to trace.

‘We believe the motorcycle has been in the Peckham and Crystal Palace areas.

‘Anyone who saw this motorcycle or who can help us identify the rider is urged to contact us immediately.

‘Whoever this person is, they are dangerous and must be removed from our streets.

‘We will always be directed by the evidence and at this time, a critical line of enquiry has been the potential link to Turkish-originating organised criminal networks.

‘The nine-year-old girl who was injured was simply out having dinner with her family. She remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

‘You might be a friend, partner or a family member of someone that you suspect may be involved. I urge you to search your heart to understand if your loyalty to friends or associates extends to covering up for an innocent child being shot.

‘It is very clear that this attack has had a devastating impact on the family. On their behalf we ask that their privacy is respected in such difficult circumstances.’
