  • His final race with Mercedes will be at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next month

Lewis Hamilton has offered fans the chance to feature on his car for his final ever race with Mercedes.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton is set to make the move to Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season, bringing to an end 11 years with the Formula One team.

The news that the Brit would be joining the Scuderia was announced back in February, with Hamilton subsequently enduring a difficult season with Mercedes.

The 39-year-old sits seventh in the Drivers’ standings and recently threatened to quit the rest of the campaign after labelling his car the ‘worst ever’ at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

However, Hamilton shared a heartfelt message to his fans on Tuesday, reflecting on his 12 seasons with Mercedes, before he offered supporters the unique opportunity to get involved with his final race with the team in Abu Dhabi next month.

‘TeamLH, you’ve always been here,’ he wrote on X. ‘Through all the ups and downs, every step of the way.

‘As we get ready to mark the end of one chapter in Abu Dhabi, and the start of another, I can’t think of anything better than carrying as many of your names as possible on my car in the final race of the season.’

Hamilton shared a link to the competition, which is giving 150 fans the chance to have their names featured on his car for the season-ending race in the Middle East next month.

Anyone is able to take part by entering the prize draw, with Mercedes saying the scheme gives fans ‘the chance to be part of our celebration of Lewis’ time with the team.’

Punters have until 23:59 on November 26 to get involved as the Brit heads into his final three races with the team before moving to Ferrari on a multi-year deal.

Hamilton’s time with Mercedes has been hugely successful for both parties, with the 39-year-old winning six of his seven world titles with them.

Mercedes also won eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships during Hamilton’s time, with the Brit first supported by Nico Rosberg, before Valtteri Bottas also helped guide the team to glory.

The past three seasons have been more difficult, with Hamilton and fellow Brit George Russell guiding the constructor to a third and second place finish.

Despite the recent struggles, Hamilton will remain a legend with Mercedes and when announcing his departure earlier this year, he paid tribute to the role the team has played in his career.

‘I feel incredibly fortunate, after achieving things with Mercedes that I could only have dreamed of as a kid, that I now have the chance to fulfil another childhood dream. Driving in Ferrari red,’ he said in a statement in February.

‘Mercedes has been a huge part of my life since I was 13-years-old, so this decision has been the hardest I’ve ever had to make.

‘I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved together and I’m very grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone I have worked with over the years and of course Toto (Wolff), for his friendship, guidance and leadership.

‘Together we have won titles, broken records and become the most successful Driver-Team partnership in F1 history.’
