Met Office points Brits with new five-hour snow warning – see in case your space can be hit

Brits can brace for chaos as more savage weather threatens to wreak havoc across much of Britain.

The Met Office has slapped a rare, five-hour amber warning for “heavy snow” across swathes of the nation for tomorrow morning (November 23).

From 7am on Saturday, November 23 until midday, the alert warns of a heavy blanket of snow set to smother the north eastern parts of the UK.

Forecasters have warned: “Heavy snow will spread northeastwards on Saturday morning giving significant accumulations, especially on hills.”, reports the Express.

The Government body continued: “Temporary accumulations of 5-10 cm are possible in the Vale of York, with 10-20 cm on ground typically above 200m, and potentially as much as 20-30 cm on hills above 400m.”

Before the big thaw on Saturday afternoon, the forecaster said: “Snow will eventually change to rain in all areas by Saturday afternoon, but may be preceded by a short spell of freezing rain in places adding to the ice risk.”

As winds pick up, they’re expecting snowdrifts to cause trouble, especially on higher roads, with a chance of power supply interruptions.

The Met Office stated: “A fairly rapid thaw of lying snow is then likely later on Saturday and overnight as milder air moves in.”
