British Airways stewardess ‘faces the sack’ after ‘callous’ Liam Payne physique admission
A British Airways worker could face the sack for revealing she was on the same flight that returned Liam Payne‘s body to the UK earlier this month.
The stewardess, who took to Instagram to reveal this to her followers, might have breached the company’s guidelines with this move. It’s after she allegedly shared a picture of the flight manifest which revealed who was on the flight.
She reportedly told her more than 10,000 followers she was travelling with the late One Direction star’s coffin, who died following a fatal three-story fall at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024.
Having reportedly been suspended, the employee is not currently working. A British Airways source told The Sun they felt she “cares more for her online social media following” than her job. They called it a “serious” and “callous” move “to tell the world of Liam’s final journey for the good of her online following.”
A spokesperson for British Airways confirmed it is investigating the matter but did not comment further. It comes after a funeral was held in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, for Payne on Wednesday, November 20, with his friends, family and former bandmates in attendance.
The flight attendant reportedly said in the post: “Just been told we’re carrying a coffin with us today. To then find out it’s Liam Payne’s body and his family are on our flight too, heart-breaking.”
Liam’s devastated dad Geoff had flown out to Argentina following his tragic death and brought his body back to the UK two weeks ago ahead of the funeral. Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik all joined the service, as did Cheryl Tweedy, mother to his seven-year-old son Bear.
Three people have since been charged in connection with his death, following his fall from a hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires.
The X Factor star, who rose to fame after appearing on the show in 2010, sustained “serious injuries that were incompatible with life” and an inquiry into his death is ongoing.
Liam’s body arrived in a white-horse-drawn procession to the church with floral tributes displayed by his coffin. One of the tributes was left by Liam’s seven-year-old son Bear.
The word ‘Daddy’ was spelt in white roses and left on display beside the church graveyard during the service today. Another floral tribute with red roses said “son” from Liam’s parents.
