‘Big cat’ filmed in distant magnificence spot the place sheep was ‘ripped to shreds’

Mad footage appears to show a suspected big cat stalking walkers in a British beauty spot.

The animal, onlookers reckoned, was “twice the size” of a normal cat you would more likely find dozing lazily in a house window to the anger of the local bruiser pooch. The big cat was spotted on farmland near Askrigg, North Yorkshire.

The Telegraph and Argus reported a passerby, who remained anonymous, said the sighting had come after a sheep had been “ripped to shreds” in a field nearby. The same person had a theory the cat could be the offspring of a panther spotted in the area around a decade ago.

‘Meow… what are you looking at?’

“My friend has a farm track and it was just at the end… It looked about twice the size of a normal cat,” they said. “Not long ago around my other back field, I called the farmer because there was a dead sheep. They’ve never seen anything like it because it was ripped to shreds.

“You’re talking older farmers, 70-year-old farmers, and they’ve never seen anything like it.

The chilling situation developed when the sleek black feline was seen on a private farm track on November 13. The New Nessy was around four to five feet long, a witness said.

A decade ago, another big cat was spotted and the witness thinks the sightings could be linked.

They said: “Nine years ago, I didn’t have my phone on me, I walked through the gate after going on a run on Askrigg Moor and I saw a massive cat, probably the size of a labrador, right in front of me.

The jet black beast is certainly turning heads

“That was jet black, but it angelically walked in front of me and then over a wall… Its tail was longer than its body.

“So I know on these moors there are these things. For a long time, I never told anyone because I thought, ‘Oh my god, they’ll think I’m a crazy woman.’”
