F1 legend takes up farming after successful 4 drivers championships in a row
Sebastian Vettel has traded the Formula 1 cockpit for a tractor as he embraces a new career in farming.
The German driver, who won his four drivers championships all in a row with Red Bull, has taken a different career path. He has gone from driving one of the fastest cars in the world to pondering around on a tractor.
Vettel has always had a green thumb. Throughout his F1 career, he brought awareness to several environmental issues and initiatives. He wore a shirt at the first Miami Grand Prix with the words: “Miami 2060 – 1st Grand Prix under water – act now or swim later.”

In Japan, Vettel had assembled some insect hotels on the inside of turn 2 in Suzuka. Each team had their own and were able to customise them themselves. Now when you think about it, farming looks like the perfect job for the retired motorsport driver.
Speaking to RTL at an awards ceremony in Germany, Vettel said: “I am actually going to school. I am doing an apprenticeship in agriculture.”
When questioned on if he wanted to become a full-time farmer, he said: “Not quite. It is basically a condensed form of it. After that, I can run my own business.
“This area fascinates me. I find it extremely exciting when it comes to the future of agriculture.”
Speaking about his life on his farmhouse in Switzerland, the German continued: “With the three kids, there is enough to do anyway. My life is much quieter than it used to be. I don’t travel as much anymore.”

Although farming is an intriguing move for the ex-driver, F1 fans will surely be heartbroken to learn that Vettel will not return to Formula 1. He shut down the idea saying: “I’m not returning to F1.” But the he continued to say: “But Le Mans could be an option.”
Vettel retired from F1 in 2022. His times at Red Bull were his most successful, but his boyhood dream came true when he drove for Ferrari like his hero Michael Schumacher. He finished his career at Aston Martin where he raced for two years.
The German still holds the record for being the youngest-ever champion in the sport; he was just 23-years-old. Now it’s time for fans to keep their eyes out both on the track and on the field for the racing legend.
