  • The Spanish giants’ team coach reportedly crashed on the M40 on Thursday

Real Madrid‘s team coach has been involved in crash on the motorway following the club’s defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League.

The crash occurred as the coach travelled southbound on the M40.

Footage emerged of a stationary coach on social media after an apparent crash with a lorry.

A driver told the Mail: ‘It probably happened about five minutes before I got there. I nearly crashed into the car in front of me because everyone suddenly stopped.

‘I couldn’t tell if any of the team were on the coach but it was definitely Real Madrid branded, with all the logos. It was unmistakable.

‘The coach was on the hard shoulder. It was really, really badly smashed up at the front, which had crumpled into the back of a white lorry.

‘I don’t think it was the sort of crash where people would have been seriously injured but I can imagine people on board would have got nasty whiplash.

‘There were a few people there but when I went past I didn’t see any players or anyone in tracksuits.’

Warwickshire Police confirmed they had received an accident report but no further information at present.

Real Madrid had suffered a 2-0 defeat by Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The result left the Spanish giants in 24th place in the revamped competition, leaving the club clinging to the final play-off place after five matches.

Los Blancos have suffered three defeats in five matches in this year’s Champions League.

Real Madrid had officially unveiled the new team coach in October.

The design features a list of trophies won by the club during its history and a large club crest.

The club said the design was also inspired by the style of the revamped Santiago Bernabeu.

It is the second time this year Real Madrid’s team coach has been involved in an accident.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported in February that the team coach had a minor crash ahead of the club’s Champions League last-16 tie against RB Leipzig.

The incident in February was blamed on a fan, who had lost control of his car after filming the team coach.
