Moment neighbour confronts ‘thief’ on the street after mom’s pet cat is ‘stolen’ – as police launch probe

This is the shocking moment a neighbour confronts a man in the street and accuses him of stealing a mother’s pet cat – as police launch a probe into the alleged catnapping

Single mother Michelle Devanney was left devastated when her moggy Shelly, 10, vanished from the family home where she lives with her four-year-old daughter Scarlet.

The dogwalker spotted him carrying the grey moggy after the man picked it up in Frinton Road, Tooting.

But even as he was accused of taking the pet, he walked off with the cat in his arms.

Wearing taped up football boots, grey trousers and hoodie and a green coat, the dishevelled man has been reported to the police, who have launched an investigation.

Ms Devanney, 29, said: ‘I was distraught watching the video and my daughter cries and cries for her pet.

‘We have had her since she was a kitten and she’s now 10-years-old.’

She claimed: ‘My neighbour was walking his dog and recognised Shelly.
