Pep Guardiola has cheeky dig at Liverpool followers as they chant ‘sacked within the morning’
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola aimed a cheeky dig at Liverpool supporters after his side lost 2-0 to the Reds at Anfield.
The defending Premier League champions slumped to a defeat against Arne Slot’s side, who moved 11 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo saw Liverpool past City, who have now not won in six games.
With the clock winding down at Anfield and with Liverpool supporters safe in the knowledge they had wrapped up all three points, fans decided to taunt Guardiola by chanting at the City boss “you’re getting sacked in the morning”.

Of course, that then prompted Guardiola to respond in kind, holding up six fingers to represent the number of Premier League titles he has won as Manchester City boss. Revealing a cheeky smile, Guardiola seemed to be enjoying the moment at Anfield despite his side now 11 points behind Liverpool.
A number of those came at Liverpool’s expense, with City edging out the Reds during the 2018/19, 2021/22 and 2023/24 Premier League titles. However, after Guardiola inked a new deal just weeks ago, it seems unlikely the Spaniard will be leaving any time soon.
The Man City boss put an end to the speculation around his future last month by signing a new two year deal which will extend his stay past 10 years since his arrival at the Etihad.
