Manchester United 4-0 Everton PLAYER RATINGS: Who confirmed they could be a diamond beneath Ruben Amorim? Which Red Devils star regarded off the tempo? And which Everton defender had a NIGHTMARE?
Ruben Amorim has his first win as a Premier League boss after Manchester United ran over Everton with an emphatic 4-0 win.
Braces from Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford put the Toffees to bed as Amorim saw his side build on their midweek Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt.
Everton fans exited Old Trafford en masse before the final whistle after what was a defeat littered with defensive mistakes that gift-wrapped this win for the hosts.
Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo caught the eye for Manchester United, while bookings for Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo rule them out of Wednesday’s trip to Arsenal.
For Everton it was a disastrous effort defensively and it is back to the drawing board with a daunting set of fixtures featuring Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City on the horizon.

Manchester United produced an emphatic 4-0 win to pile the misery on Everton on Sunday
Joshua Zirkzee bagged a brace on what was his first league appearance since September
Andre Onana – 6.5
Was the busier of the two goalkeepers in the first half hour but soon became a spectator like the rest of the 73,000 in here.
Continues to make some really nice through balls from defence and looks the most comfortable stepping up into midfield areas, which Amorim wants his defenders to do. Booked and will miss Wednesday night’s trip to Arsenal through suspension.
Matthjis de Ligt – 5.5
Got exposed for a worrying lack of pace early on and that will continue to be a concern if he remains the first choice as central centre back. Settled down once Everton lost all impetus and spark in attack.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6
Has been Manchester United’s Mr Reliable since joining from Bayern Munich and this display was no exception. Offers an option at right centre back for Amorim while Leny Yoro builds up his fitness. Hooked after 56 minutes as part of rotation.
Diogo Dalot – 6
By Amorim’s own admission, his fellow Portuguese is much more comfortable and effective off the right but a lack of options saw him start at left wing back. Gets into good areas but his final ball is so frustrating at times.
Kobbie Mainoo – 5
First start under Amorim and it looked like it. Struggled to assert the dominance fans know he can in the middle of the park and picked up a cheap booking to rule him out of the midweek trip to Arsenal.
Casemiro – 6
Preferred to Manuel Ugarte after missing out on a start against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, the Brazilian had a much better second half than he did first, when Everton had their way with him in midfield before the opening goal changed the complexion.
Amad Diallo – 8.5
Another bright, energetic, thrilling performance from the Ivorian, who was again operating at right wing back. A willing listener and, as Ruud van Nistelrooy pointed out recently, a willing extra trainer, he can be an absolute diamond for Amorim. MOTM.
Amad Diallo produced a man-of-the-match display after a brilliant afternoon at Old Trafford
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Two assists and another brilliant display chalked up. It was a brilliant assist from his corner to Rashford for his first, and then later he unselfishly teed up Zirkzee. It will be one of Erik ten Hag’s biggest frustrations that prior to his sacking this season, Fernandes looked a shell of himself.
Marcus Rashford – 8
It was a brace for Rasmus Hojlund on Thursday and this time it was Rashford’s turn. he injected life into United with the opening goal after a turgid opening where Everton were on top. Has to build on this and not allow it to become a false dawn.
Joshua Zirkzee – 7.5
First Premier League start since facing Tottenham in September and he marked it with a brace that should do wonders for his confidence. Both were laid on for him but they still need putting in the back of the net and for that he deserves credit.
MANAGER: Ruben Amorim – 9
Delight. After Ipswich saw him get his ‘Welcome to England’ moment last week, this was much more like it as his team put a very poor one away with some ease in the end. Far tougher tests lie in wait – none less so than Wednesday’s game at Arsenal.

EVERTON (4-2-3-1)
Jordan Pickford – 6
Hard to be too critical of England’s No 1 for any of the goals with the first misdirected right in front of him by his defenders, Zirkzee’s two goals tap-ins that took him out the game and a deflection helping Rashford to his second. As difficult a day as he probably feared.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 3.5
Got absolutely ran ragged by man of the match Amad Diallo. His head will still be spinning when his head hits the pillow tonight. Booked.
Ashley Young – 5
The former Manchester United man got a standing ovation from home fans when he came off – and they certainly didn’t mind his role in a defence that coughed up four goals. The fact he’s still Everton’s best option at right back at the age of 39 tells the story.
Vitalii Mykolenko had a torrid afternoon that saw him turned inside and out by Amad Diallo (left)
Jarrad Branthwaite – 4
The Manchester United target badly miscalculated for the opening goal, sliding in to leave Pickford helpless as he diverted it in. He then got caught napping with the ball as Amad pinched it off him in the build-up to United’s second goal. Not a great audition, truth be told.
James Tarkowski – 5
Got punished just as Branthwaite did as he dithered on the ball and again Amad stole it off him before breaking away for the fourth goal. Has too much experience to be making such a sloppy error.
Idrissa Gueye – 6
Looked bright in the first half hour where Everton had a grip, and control, of the midfield. Simply found himself with insufficient help as the game stretched. Booked.
Idrissa Gana Gueye (right) had control of the midfield early on but was left with too much to do
Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6.5
Probably Everton’s best player on the day but the bar is so low it won’t be cause for too much celebration. Drives through the lines really well as the long strider that he is. Was left with his hands on his hips as the goals went in due to Everton mistakes.
Iliman Ndiaye – 6
Everton’s best attacking threat on the day but even he continued to make the wrong decision when it came to the final pass. Does provide pace out left but they stopped looking for him as they game got away from them.
Dwight McNeil – 6
Went bursting clear and through on goal in the opening moments of the game but showed an alarming lack of pace. He’s playing in a No 10 role but doesn’t seem to have the intuition defensively and it left Gueye and Doucoure exposed too often.
Jesper Lindstrøm – 5
Showed flashes but this game largely passed him by. Only had 21 touches.
Jesper Lindstrom saw this game pass him by despite a couple of flashes in the early moments
Beto – 4.5
Familiar story for the front man, who was preferred to Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Worrying lack of end product in a team that is the joint-lowest scorers in the Premier League this season. Easy to see why.
MANAGER: Sean Dyche – 4
With pressure building this was another blow to his hopes to endear himself to the incoming owners. They started brightly but they look so goal-shy it’s a real concern. Worryingly, too, he didn’t seem to know how to stop the momentum when United went through the gears.
