Girl, 8, ‘stabbed to demise by intruder’ as she tried to guard mum in home raid

An eight-year-old girl tragically lost her life while heroically trying to save her mother from a brutal knife attack at their home in New Ross, Co Wexford, Ireland. Little Malikika Al Katib reportedly suffered fatal stab wounds as she attempted to intervene when her mother was being assaulted late on Sunday night, according to The Irish Mirror.

A source revealed: “She realised her mum was being attacked and went to try to help her as much as a young child can.” Despite the efforts of paramedics who rushed to the William Street residence, Malikika succumbed to her injuries at University Hospital Waterford on Monday morning.

The local school community is reeling from the loss, with New Ross Educate Together National School, where Malikika was a pupil, announcing a critical incident response supported by health experts.
