Roy Keane slams Liverpool star for what he did in opposition to Newcastle as Reds drop two factors
Roy Keane pointed the blame at one Liverpool player for a goal that saw Newcastle take the lead over the Premier League frontrunners.
Arne Slot’s men dropped two points away at Newcastle in a thrilling 3-3 draw. And the ex-Manchester United star singled out Alexis Mac Allister for being at fault for the Magpies’ first goal.
The Argentine was joined alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones in Liverpool’s formidable midfield. But Mac Allister picked up a yellow card just 20 minutes into the game following a late challenge on Fabian Schar.

Not only will this see him suspended for the Merseyside Derby against Everton on Saturday, but it also didn’t help him in his challenge against Newcastle. Magpies captain Bruno Guimaraes got past the Argentine and continued to slot the ball through for Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker held off Virgil van Djik before leathering the ball into the top right corner and Keane believed Mac Allister was at fault. He ranted on The Overlap’s Watchalong: “Look at Mac Allister. Look at Mac Allister. Look at Mac Allister.
“Look at Mac Allister. Look at Mac Allister here. He can’t. Great strike. What power. If you’re on a yellow card and can’t run don’t go in there.”
However, other pundits saw the goal differently. Chelsea legend Pat Nevin put the focus on the thunderous strike. He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Alexander Isak is some player!
“Moments after he set up Lewis Hall for a chance which he can’t get on target he goes alone, turning Virgil van Dijk about 25 yards out and then absolutely leathering the ball into the roof of the net.

“That had power, swerve, dip… a sensational goal! Liverpool made a good start to this game, but as the first half went on, Newcastle have got better and better. And Alexander Isak has been the absolute star of the show.
“He’s created some golden chances for his team-mates before hitting one into the top corner. It was a very, very special goal from a special player.”
Schar scored a 90th minute equaliser thanks to a Caoimhin Kelleher howler, after Mohamed Salah scored a second goal on the night seven minutes earlier which looked to have earned Liverpool all three points.
With Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all winning their games, it has shortened Liverpool’s lead at the top.
