Thom Christopher useless at 84: One Life to Live actor and Emmy winner passes away as co-star pays tribute
Soap opera icon Thom Christopher has died aged 84.
The One Life To Live actor who played Carlo Hesser and his twin Mortimer Bern on the show from 1990-2008 died on Friday with his death announced by former co-star and onscreen son Anthony Crivello on Facebook.
Christopher was a fan favorite on the show for his portrayal of the villainous Pennsylvania mobster and won a Daytime Emmy in 1992 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
The character was killed off in 1992 but Christopher returned to play Mortimer on-off between 1996-2008.
Crivello wrote: ‘My dear friend of many years, actor #ThomChristopher passed today.
‘He was always a gentleman, always supportive, and he and his wife Judith who proceeded him in death, where always gracious to me and welcoming.

‘Thom and I worked together on the #abc daytime series #onelifetolive in the 1990s. It was a wonderful time, difficult hours and long days, but joyful each minute.
‘May Thom fly on Wings of Angels to be beside his beloved Judith, and may they enjoy each other’s company once again, beside the ‘Pearly Gates’ of heaven.’
Christopher also had roles on soap operas such as Loving and Guiding Light and created the role of Noel Douglas on CBS soap opera The Edge of Night.
He played Hawk, a half-man, half-bird warrior in the second season of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century in 1981.
