Restaurant tells buyer return desk lights by Christmas Eve or ‘go on naughty record’
EXCLUSIVE: A family-run restaurant in Manchester has outed a pair of customers and given them one ultimatum – return their stolen goods or suffer over Christmas as they’re placed on Santa’s ‘naughty list’
One tapas restaurant was fed up with a set of customers with wandering hands – as they were caught nicking a table light on CCTV footage. Not only that, they were given a deadline on when to return the precious goods.
Campo Blanco, a Mancunian restaurant dishing up “tapas, paella and seafood dishes” shared the incriminating footage on their Instagram page and sent a message to the thieves. They provided one simple ultimatum – return the stolen good or face a miserable Christmas on the naughty list.
Santa’s bad books is enough to inflict fear in anybody’s heart, and the tapas restaurant hope to get their table lights back as soon as possible. However, it appears the Spanish restaurant are taking their threats more seriously and are intending to call the police.
In the video, shared to the company’s almost 10,000 Instagram followers, a zoomed in video of a table in the restaurant was displayed. two diners were seated opposite each other, with just one – the man – eating a meal with a pint.
Opposite him sat a woman dressed in green, who picks up a small gold light from the middle of the table to take a closer look. After seeming to approve, she turned the light off before slipping it into the pocket of her coat.
Straight after she laughed and continued her conversation with the man across the table. Campo Blanco captioned the video: “We love our new table lights too. We actually can’t get them anymore as they’ve stopped making them so please bring them back. Also, they aren’t yours!”
The restaurant didn’t top there, and instead suggested they should do the right thing or they could ruin their Christmas just a week before it begins. They added: :You have until Christmas Eve to return them with no questions asked.
“If not, we will tell Santa to put you on the naughty list. And by Santa, we mean The Police. Cheers. Merry Christmas.”
Regulars and fans of the restaurant flooded the comment section with surprise and disgust at the action. “You’re being very generous not showing their faces!!” wrote on follower, referring to the face the company had cropped the faces in the video.
“That’s shocking!” added another, while a third noted: “Imagine being that scruffy! I’d show her face if I were you.”
The family run bar, who have served up fresh food for six years, have revealed they will be involving the police if the light has not been returned, as they have a clearer image of the two diners on their cameras.
