Revealed: Marcus Rashford was despatched residence from coaching because of sickness simply 24 hours after Manchester derby snub – earlier than admitting he is able to go away Man United

Marcus Rashford did not train with his Manchester United team-mates after being omitted from the matchday squad for their derby win over Manchester City on Sunday.

On Monday, hometown boy Rashford, who has been at the club for two decades and scored 143 goals, was sent home sick from training. Club policy is that those who are unwell should attend Carrington where they will be assessed by a doctor. Rashford was deemed to have a high temperature and left the complex. 

However, the following day he was at his old primary school, where he handed out 420 presents – and dropped a bombshell story.

Rashford, 27, spoke to journalist Henry Winter and revealed that he is ready to leave Old Trafford following his derby snub.

‘For me, personally, I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,’ Rashford said.

‘When I leave it’s going to be no hard feelings. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Man United.

The 27-year-old forward was then sent home from training on Monday due to feeling unwell 

Rashford was well enough to hand presents to children at his old school on Tuesday, where he also revealed that he is ready to leave Manchester United after two decades at the club

‘That’s me. I will always be a Red.’

Rashford’s shock admission came after he was left out of United’s 2-1 win at the Etihad by Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese boss also opted not to pick Alejandro Garnacho in his squad, and later warned the pair that he ‘pays attention to everything’, including the clothes they wear and how they interact with their team-mates. 

His bold call paid off as United mounted a dramatic late fightback to win thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.

Amorim insisted that the door was not closed on Rashford and Garnacho getting back into the squad, but Rashford was unable to prove his point in training on Monday due to feeling unwell.

Mail Sport exclusively revealed last week that United are willing to listen to offers of around £40m for the England international.

Rashford still has over three years remaining on his Old Trafford contract, having signed a £315,000-a-week deal last year.
