Marcus Rashford was sent home from training after being axed by Ruben Amorim – before publicly confessing that he wants to leave Manchester United.

The out-of-form forward, who has been with the club since he was just seven-years-old, is planning for a future away from Old Trafford after being brutally dropped by his new manager against Manchester City on Sunday.

Amorim made a bold statement by excluding both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from the squad that faced off in the derby, blaming subpar behaviour and attitude as he strives to stamp his authority as United’s new boss.

Following a health check at the club’s Carrington training base on Monday, Rashford was sent home due to suffering from a fever, according to the Daily Mail. However, on Tuesday, Rashford visited his previous primary school to deliver 420 Christmas gifts to children and while there, dropped the bombshell to former Times journalist Henry Winter about his desire to move on from United, reports the Mirror.

Rashford said: “For me, personally, I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.” He added: “When I leave it’s going to be no hard feelings. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me. I will always be a Red.”Rashford, who has more than three years left on a £315,000-a-week contract, has sparked interest among top clubs, but whether they will match his high wages remains in doubt.

It’s rumoured that United could be swayed with a £40million offer for the England ace, as Amorim starts to overhaul his new team, who remain is slumped in 13th place in the Premier League after a disastrous season so far.

Explaining why he left Rashford and Garnacho out of the squad for their clash against Manchester City, Amorim said: “(It was) selection. We try to evaluate everything – training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates, push the teammates up.“Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players, so it was my selection. Simple. I don’t want to send a message (to the dressing room with this). It’s simply an evaluation, and they know it.”
