Netflix followers rave over ’10/10′ horror film that ‘left their palms sweating your entire runtime’ – however warn to not watch when you have this explicit phobia

Netflix fans are raving over a ‘terrifying’ horror movie that left their ‘palms sweating’ and gave them ‘anxiety through the roof’.

Fall, which premiered in 2022, is an American thriller survivor film which follows two women who get stranded after climbing to the top of a 2000ft radio tower.

For best friends Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), life is all about conquering fears and pushing limits.

But, when the pair find themselves stuck with no way down, they’re left with no choice but to desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies, and vertigo-inducing heights in this adrenaline-fueled movie.

Despite hitting the streaming platform more than a year ago, the film is stirring up conversation online again after going viral on the Netflix Bangers Facebook group.

The horror master himself Stephen King has even given it a review, writing: ‘Tight, terrific, and very, very scary. Reminded me a bit of Duel. Wish I’d written it. Hint, if you suffer from Acrophobia, DON’T WATCH.’

Acrophobia is an anxiety disorder that causes people to have an intense, irrational fear of heights.

In a Reddit thread, users discussed the worst films for people with the phobia, and Fall was up there on their no-go list.

They wrote: ‘I don’t consider myself to have a massive fear of heights but Fall was so effective in making you feel queasy and anxious.

‘I don’t have any fear of heights, but Fall made my palms sweat for the entire runtime.’

Common complaints from viewers are overwhelming feelings of stress, nausea and anxiety, particularly with those who have a fear of heights.

Meanwhile, X users also shared their thoughts, penning: ‘Just seen Fall has been added to Netflix UK. Absolutely loved that movie. Well worth a watch if you’ve not seen and fancy giving yourself sweaty palms!!’

‘Ok, so… Fall – (2022 Movie). If you wanna see a movie that’s more terrifying than any scary movie.’

‘Fall (2022) is pretty much my definition of a horror movie! #vertigo #heights #falls.’

‘Good movie… made me throw up and have a panic attack, but good.’

‘If you wanna watch a movie that’s intense from start to finish… it’s called Fall.’

‘I saw this in theatres, when I tell you my hands were SWEATING that entire movie.’

‘I hid behind a cushion for most of that film, thought I was OK with heights….perhaps not!’

‘Actually induced a stress headache. A really entertaining watch.’

‘My anxiety was through the roof the entire time watching it!’

The movie has been received positively by critics and currently holds a 79 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Empire Magazine gave the film four stars, with reviewer John Nugent penning: ‘This is an enjoyably throwback breed of thriller, a movie only interested in making your palms leak sweat and your adrenal glands go into overdrive. In those modest goals, it is entirely successful.’

The Observer’s Wendy Ide awarded it three stars, noting: ‘Even if you don’t suffer from vertigo, there are moments in Scott Mann’s thriller – the single-handed selfie snapped while dangling from a rusty grating 2,000 feet in the sky, for example – that are almost unwatchable.’

She added: ‘While the pace falters a little – there are only so many ways you can almost fall off a tower, after all – the tension is unrelenting.’

Carry-On, is a new ’10/10′ thriller from The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra starring Taron Egerton, 35, and Jason Bateman, 55.

The film sees Taron play a transportation security agent (TSA), who is blackmailed by Jason’s character into smuggling dangerous items onboard a flight on Christmas Eve.

Written by TJ Fixman, the film was originally planned to be the first release as part of Netflix’s deal with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin production company, however, it was delayed due to re-writes of the script.

Carry-On also stars Sofia Carson, 31, Danielle Deadwyler, 42, and Logan Marshall-Green, 48, and has already received strong reviews from critics.

In his review for The Wrap, William Bibbiani said: ‘There are about two minutes in that are as exciting as any other action movie this year, and about 100 minutes that are pretty fun too.’

Pramit Chatterjee in Digital Media Talkies wrote: ‘Carry-On is the best Christmas movie of the year.’

Meanwhile, Nick Schager for The Daily Beast added: ‘This breakneck Netflix offering confirms the enduring vitality of its chosen formula—and, in the process, proves an unexpected and welcome Yuletide streaming gift.’

Speaking to the BBC, Collet said that the Bruce Willis classic had inspired the movie, adding: ‘Everyone wants to make the next Die Hard and the reality is that no one ever will – it’s a perfect movie that can’t be replicated, and also a very specific product of its time.’

‘But when I read the script for Carry-On, I felt like I had found a more grounded version of Die Hard – which was our North Star for the entire process – for a new generation.’

Fall is available to stream on Netflix now.
