Alejandro Garnacho handed ‘actuality examine’ after Man Utd escape route dashed
Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with a move away from Manchester United after being called out by Ruben Amorim, but the Argentine has been snubbed by Barcelona
Alejandro Garnacho’s hopes of a Barcelona escape route from Manchester United have been dashed.
The Argentine was publicly criticised by new boss Ruben Amorim, who left him out of the Manchester derby win last weekend.
Despite returning to the squad, it was made clear that his attitude and performance needed improvement. And if United were to put him up for sale, Barcelona would not be among the interested parties.
Reports from El Nacional suggest that Garnacho’s representatives approached Barcelona about a potential move, but manager Hansi Flick immediately dismissed the idea.
Flick, who took over at the Nou Camp last summer, reportedly has concerns about Garnacho fitting into his hard-working, focused philosophy.
With players like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha already on their books, and links to Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, Barcelona’s recruitment strategy under Flick and sporting director Deco is focused on elite talent that fits their system.
Players like Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich are more likely targets, with Garnacho’s profile not aligning with their priorities. Garnacho has since made a comeback, featuring as a substitute as United suffered a humiliating defeat at home to Bournemouth.
The 20-year-old netted a career-high ten goals last season, including one in the FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City, reports the Mirror.
This year, he’s already scored eight times and continues to be one of the top attacking threats at Old Trafford. It’s still uncertain how he would fit into Amorim’s long-term plans, with Garnacho able to play as a wing-back or in the front three, although he would play with less width.
