Manchester United reigns supreme when it comes to Premier League Boxing Day victories, as they topped the charts with a whopping 21 wins and a goal bonanza of 76.

In contrast, Newcastle have the gloomy record for December 26th, having suffered 15 losses and leaking 45 goals. Even Manchester City, Everton, Chelsea, and Aston Villa find their names among the elite clubs tallying up wins and losses on the festive football day.

In a recent survey 40% of football fans admitted their anticipation for Boxing Day matches trumps all other dates on the football calendar, streaking past transfer deadline day and outscoring the Carabao Cup final.

Come Boxing Day, the average supporter will park themselves in front of the telly for five thrilling matches, soaking up over 10 hours of live action.

A representative from Lottoland Sportsbook, the brains behind the study, gushed about the magic of Boxing Day fixtures, saying, “There’s just so much to love about it, and the Boxing Day fixtures are among the first people will look out for when they are released.”

The research also revealed that 34% are particularly excited about this year’s December 26 fixtures due to the title race ramping up. However, it isn’t all joy and merriment – three in ten confess that a loss for their favourite team on Boxing Day could spoil their entire Christmas holiday.

Can you match the predicted scores ahead of tomorrow’s matches?

“Of course, watching loads of football is lots more fun if your team happens to be winning. Losing two or three games in quick succession is nobody’s idea of a good time. But for the neutrals who don’t have a particular horse in the race, the endless supply of action can only be a good thing,” the spokesperson added.

The research also highlighted that a fair 25% of fans don’t shed any tears for Premier League players working on Boxing Day, with over a third feeling absolutely no empathy for the pros.

For fans, football on Boxing Day is a beloved tradition with 22% of people enjoying the camaraderie of watching games with friends and family, while another 13% see it as a welcome respite from family duties and socialising.
