Flabbergasted shoppers have posted pictures of supermarket shelves stocked with Easter eggs days before Christmas. Shoppers have taken to social media to express their confusion and frustration over Easter eggs already being on sale in UK supermarkets.

Supermarkets had chocolate eggs on their shelves from December 20, while other supermarkets that have been quick off the mark include Asda, Tesco, and B&M.

Easter falls on April 20 in 2025, exactly 95 days from today. Some consumers have questioned why the holiday treats are already on sale.

One user posted on X: “Well, @Tesco – the man hasn’t even been born yet and we’ve already rolled out the Easter Eggs – this is consumerism at its best. Not even 2025 yet ffs.”

Another posted: “Saw this today. Absolutely bloody ridiculous. It took me all my time to walk away and not trash the shelves,” to which one replied replied: “Goodness. He’s not even born yet.”

And a third said he would “take a Creme Egg” for Christmas, while a fourth raged: “Stop! Seriously?”

Some supermarkets have taken advantage of the combined holidays. Supermarket Aldi has launched Dairyfine Hollow Character Eggs into stores for Christmas and it has caused a stir between shoppers online for being a twist on tradition.

The ‘Chreaster Eggs’, available as Garry the Gingerbread Man and Parker the Penguin, are hollow chocolate eggs in festive packaging.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi we’re always looking for fun and creative ways to enhance our Christmas range. The ‘Chreaster egg’ trend has really taken off because it blends Easter’s most popular treat, the Easter Egg, with the beloved season of Christmas.
