Celebrities activate LA’s woke mayor Karen Bass for woeful response to worst-ever wildfires devastating metropolis
Outraged celebrities have slated Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as deadly wildfires continue to ravage through the city’s glitzy suburbs, after she slashed the fire department’s budget last year.
Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar took to Instagram to shame the LA mayor’s response to the infernos that have been spreading since Tuesday, forcing thousands of residents of the Pacific Palisades enclave to evacuate.
However, mayhem unfolded after the main route in – or out – of the affluent LA neighbourhood quickly became blocked as residents rushed to get to safety, forcing motorists to leave their vehicles behind.
‘City of LA you want everyone to evacuate yet you have complete gridlock and not one traffic cop on the roads helping,’ Gellar wrote on her story, tagging the mayor’s account in the post.
The post comes after Bass came under fire for traveling to Ghana while the city became engulfed in flames, despite having had ample warning about ‘critical’ weather conditions in the days before.
Bass flew out to attend the West African country’s presidential inauguration on Tuesday, after meteorologists warned that a ‘recipe for fire’ was on track to strike LA.
Meanwhile, other furious celebrities have critiques the mayor’s moves, with actress Sara Foster writing on X:
‘We pay the highest taxes in California. Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown, brush not cleared. Our reservoirs were emptied by our governor because tribal leaders wanted to save fish. Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor. But thank god drug addicts are getting their drug kits. RESIGN. Your far left policies have ruined our state. And also our party.’

Former Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy also expressed his dissatisfaction on social media.
‘5th largest economy on the planet. Firefighters didn’t have enough water pressure to do their job?! Are you joking me?! The taxes we pay for 3rd world infrastructure is unbelievable?! Come on.
Actor James Woods also blasted the mayor, blaming her and California Governor Gavin Newsom for the fire.
‘This fire is not from ‘climate change,’ you ignorant asshole. It’s because liberal idiots like you elect liberal idiots like Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. One doesn’t understand the first thing about fire management and the other can’t fill the water reservoirs’, he wrote.
His Tweet came as it emerged that his home was destroyed by the fires.
Actor Dennis Quaid also spoke about the mishandling of the LA fires as he shared that he had returned to his home after having had to evacuate.
Speaking to Fox News in an interview today, he said: ‘It’s an inherent problem in California.’
‘[There is] no water in the Palisades… the infrastructure has been a big problem around here – and where we should spend the money… I do have a difference with that.
‘The mayor coming back, I’m sure she got on the first plane coming back but having nothing to say once she got here…you got to hit the ground running around here.’
Flames have been spreading through surrounding suburbs as a windstorm carried embers and debris in all directions.
The death toll of the apocalyptic infernos has now reached five, as heroic firefighters still battle hellish conditions on the front lines of at least five different fires.
Criticism from A-listers comes as Bass was today cornered by journalist David Blevins from Sky News at the airport upon her return with an assistant, who both refused to answer his questions.
Bass immediately indicated that she’s not going to answer his questions and turned away.
Blevins then asked her a series of questions that she did not respond to.

‘Fire chiefs say that they’re really stretched to the limit and running out of water, what have you got to say to that? Have you no response to that?’
‘Do you owe your citizens an apology for being absent while their homes were burning?’
‘Do you regret cutting the fire department by millions of dollars, Madam Mayor? Have you nothing to say today?’
Bass tried to cut the LA Fire Department’s budget by some $23million in 2024 but settled for $17.6 million in cuts.
‘Elon Musk says that you’re utterly incompetent, are you considering your position? Have you absolutely nothing to say to citizens who are dealing with this disaster? No apologies for them?’
‘Do you think you should’ve been visiting Ghana while this was unfolding back home?’
Blevins then follows Bass out of a corridor at the airport before demanding she give a statement to the citizens of her city. Again, she ignores him.
Bass then walks out a door and onto the tarmac.
Bass eventually returned home Wednesday to survey the damage alongside fellow Democrat and California Governor Gavin Newsom
‘To the thousands of families impacted by this horrific fire — the City of Los Angeles is providing resources and shelter as this emergency continues. To the hundreds of brave firefighters and first responders who have been responding all day to this blaze — we thank you. The City is working aggressively to confront this emergency,’ she said in a statement.
