Fears develop for triplet sisters who vanished into skinny air as Scotland braces itself for coldest night time of the winter

Fears were growing last night for two sisters who have not been seen in four days as Scotland braced itself for the coldest night of the winter.

Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, 32, who are part of a set of triplets, went missing while out in Aberdeen on Tuesday.

The pair, who are originally from Hungary, were last seen walking near the River Dee after leaving their home just after 2am.

Specialist search teams including marine divers and police dogs were out in force on and along the river yesterday as concerns for their safety grew.

Their brother, Joszef, told the BBC that their mother had a 40-minute conversation with his sisters just days before and ‘nothing appeared out of the ordinary’.

Police Scotland is now working with officers in Hungary who are liaising with the sisters’ close-knit family.

It is understood that Eliza works in a branch of Costa Coffee in Aberdeen, while her sister Henrietta is believed to have changed jobs a few months ago, after they moved to the city in 2014.

They are both described as white, of slim build and with long brown hair. Their sister Edit Huszti – the other triplet – said she spoke to them on a video call on New Year’s Eve and they both appeared happy and cheerful.

She said the sisters were very close and did most things together and added that she believed it was quite out of character for them to be out on the streets in the early hours.

The last sighting of the women was caught on CCTV cameras, which showed they had crossed the bridge heading towards the Torry area and turned right onto a footpath next to the River Dee, heading in the direction of Aberdeen Boat Club.

Police said there were a number of commercial and industrial units in the area which they were searching. A police helicopter has also been scouring the area from above.

Businesses in the area, meanwhile, have been urged to check CCTV footage in a bid to help trace them.

Police Scotland Chief Inspector Darren Bruce said: ‘Extensive inquiries are ongoing to trace Eliza and Henrietta.

‘Local officers, led by specialist search advisers, are being assisted by resources including police dogs and our marine unit.

‘Searches are ongoing and we would urge businesses in and around the South Esplanade and Menzies Road area to please review their CCTV footage for the early morning on January 7 and contact us if it holds anything that may be relevant to our investigation.’
