Five ‘are combating for all times’ and dozens injured as trams crash into one another in main incident at Strasbourg station

At least five people are said to be fighting for their lives and dozens more were injured when two trams collided in Strasbourg on Saturday.

Emergency crews are at the scene at Gare Centrale station in the French city. 

Around 30 people are believed to have been injured.

The Bas-Rhin region’s Fire and Rescue Service asked to avoid the area to facilitate access for emergency services.

The crash occurred after one of the trams switched tracks and collided with a stationary tram at Strasbourg’s Gare Centrale station, BFM TV said.

Local reports suggest that one of the tram drivers was killed in the horrific accident, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Footage shared on social media shows the aftermath of the terrifying crash.
