AI predicts ‘excellent’ Tesco meal deal in 2035 with eerie glimpse into way forward for meals

EXCLUSIVE: The future of food is often a topic of discussion in the Daily Star offices, so we turned to artificial intelligence to find out what a Tesco Meal Deal could look like in 2034

The collective mind of everyone in Britain was blown last week when we reported what the perfect Tesco Meal Deal for 2024 was. For the two years before 2024, the Sausage Bacon and Egg Triple, McCoy’s Flame Grilled Steak crisps and a bottle of Coca-Cola was the nations favourite meal deal combination – which costs £3.60 with a Clubcard and £4 without.

However, two new options moved into claim the top spot on the 2024 meal deal leader board. The Chicken Club Sandwich was the favourite main and – to the disgust of some – the boiled egg snack, dubbed the Tesco Egg Protein Pot, knocked McCoy’s off the favourite snack slot.

The 500ml Coca-Cola remains undefeated in the favourite drink division – marking its third year at the top of the meal deal leader boards.

Despite all of that, the Daily Star’s hungry team started thinking about what a meal deal could look like in the future . . . so we turned to artificial intelligence to find out.

Chatting to Google’s AI-powered large language model called Gemini – and then turning to Elon Musk’s AI-powered Grok to depict it – we asked what the perfect meal deal could look like in 2034. It mused that it would need to be “sustainable” and focus on “health and wellness,” while being “reimagined”.

Explaining that in normal terms, it said: “Expect more vegan and vegetarian options to cater to growing demand. Minimalist or recyclable packaging will likely be a priority.

“Highlighting local produce could be a key selling point. There will be more emphasis on nutrient-dense foods, potentially with calorie or nutritional information clearly displayed, with options for healthier alternatives to sugary drinks and processed snacks.

Ultimately, the “perfect” meal deal will depend on what customers want. Tesco will need to adapt to changing tastes and demands.”

So what is the perfect meal deal for 2034?

• Main: A lentil and vegetable wrap with locally sourced hummus
• Drink: A kombucha or sparkling water
• Snack: A small bag of roasted seaweed or a fruit and nut mix
