Man Utd switch information: Alejandro Garnacho’s future unsure as Napoli warn over £70m price ticket
Napoli have emerged as serious contenders for the signature of Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho before the end of the winter transfer window

Alejandro Garnacho linked with Chelsea move
Napoli have warned Manchester United that they’ll pull out of a move for Alejandro Garnacho if the price isn’t right. The Serie A frontrunners have stepped up as major players for the 20-year-old ahead of the window slamming shut.
Despite hopes fading at Old Trafford with Garnacho failing to impress under new gaffer Ruben Amorim, Napoli see him as the perfect fit for the gap left by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who just jetted off to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Giovanni Manna, Napoli’s sporting director, has made it crystal clear on DAZN: “These are two names [Garnacho and Karim Adeyemi] that are of interest to us, they are players we like, but they are not the only ones. We are trying to evaluate a few things and looking at the opportunities, but we certainly will not pay prices that are outside the market value.”
He added: “We made this sale [Kvaratskhelia] that unfortunately was necessary for what the player wanted and our dynamics. We will respect our parameters, not just for the transfer fee, but also the salary.”
Manna didn’t want to peddle dreams to the fans but promised to strive for squad improvements: “We are evaluating a few situations, it would not be right to give our fans false hope, but we will certainly do what is best to improve the squad.”
It seems Man Utd expect a hefty £70m cheque for Garnacho before time’s up, reports the Mirror.
Napoli is definitely in the race, but Chelsea are also said to be interested.
The Blues are sniffing around, and United might just fancy a punt on Christopher Nkunku. Chelsea’s gaffer Enzo Maresca played it cool when quizzed about nicking Garnacho, admitting he’s not chasing the lad but didn’t slam the door shut either.
“I’m happy with what we have in this moment,” Maresca spilled the beans. “On the right side there’s Pedro [Neto] and Noni [Madueke], on the left there’s Jadon [Sancho]. Misha [Mudryk] was with us, now he’s not. Tyrique [George] is a young profile that can help us so in this moment we are OK.”
He added, “We pay attention (to the market) if something can happen. But 10 days to go, we didn’t do anything, just we called back Trev (Chalobah). We’ll see in the next 10 days if something is going to happen.”
