Tesco and Spar prospects issued warning as merchandise recalled over lethal listeria fears
Cheese producers JOD Food Products issued a full list of recalled items which can be refunded without a receipt – as listeria symptoms to watch out for are detailed
Almost 20 cheese products sold in Tesco and Spar have been recalled over fears they could be contaminated with listeria. The warning issued by producer JOD Food Products said they “may contain” the bacteria.
Listeria poisoning symptoms include a high temperature, aches and pains, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. People with weakened immune systems and babies who contract listeriosis can develop life-threatening problems such as sepsis or meningitis.
If you’ve purchased one of the 18 cheese products, you should return them to the store you bought it from for a full refund. You won’t need a receipt to get your money back. You can full list of the cheeses included in the recall below.
In a recall notice published by JOD Food Products, the company said: “Please return the affected products to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required. There is a risk that the product may contain Listeriamonocytogenes, a bacterium that is potentially harmful if consumed.”
For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency and Chartered Trading Standards Institute websites. You should also notice recall notices in stores if they’ve pulled a product from shelves.

Marks and Spencer also pulled some chicken products over fears they could be contaminated with salmonella. The recall notice only applies to Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland stores, and relates to M&S Southern Fried Chicken Burgers and 2x Chicken Kievs.
