Buruk remained on the turf holding his face post-incident while Galatasaray goalie Fernando Muslera rushed over to challenge Mourinho.

The Fenerbahce gaffer, whose past clubs include Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid, was not among the trio shown red cards as law enforcement had to step in.

Mert Hakan Yandas, Kerem Demirbay and Baris Alper Yilmaz were all given their marching orders for joining the ensuing chaos, with all three reds flashed in the second minute of extra time in the second half.

Although Mourinho dodged any immediate sanctions, he could face a retrospective ban following the altercation, which rapidly spread across social media platforms, reports the Mirror.

The incident put the cherry on top of a disappointing night for Fenerbahce, who lost the Turkish Cup quarter-final match 2-1.

Victor Osimhen netted both goals for Galatasaray, while Sebastian Szymanski scored for Fenerbahce.

Mourinho took the reins at Fenerbahce last June. Before his Turkish venture, he had been at the helm of AS Roma for three years.
