Revealed: The price of a pint at this 12 months’s World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace for thirsty punters – with greater than half a MILLION pints to be consumed throughout event

A pint of lager will set darts fans back £7.85 at Alexandra Palace for this year’s World Darts Championship.

The tournament got underway on Thursday night, with defending champion Luke Littler in action in the third game of the night, beating Darius Labanauskas in straight sets in front of his parents and beautician girlfriend Faith Millar.

On offer inside Alexandra Palace was a pint of Amstel, which will set back punters just short of £8. Half a pint of the one per cent lager will cost £3.95, with pitchers priced at £31.40.

As for the Brixton Reliance pale ale, it’s a little more pricey with a pint costing £8.20, half a pint £4.10 and a pitcher £32.80.

The beer or cider on offer is an Inch’s cider, which costs £7.85 for a pint, £3.95 for half a pint and £31.40 for a pitcher.

The numbers are down one the £9.25 a pint of Budweiser would cost fans in the Premier League play-offs in May at the O2 Arena., with pale ale costing £9.80.

Wine is also on offer to the fans watching on their favourites – both red and white.

Four glasses of Vina Arroba white wine will set punters back £32, with a 175ml glass costing £8. The cost of red is the same. Shots were also on offer, with customers warned they could only pay by card.

Rowdy darts fans have taken over Alexandra Palace again for this year’s World Championship, with close to 5,000 cramming into the West Hall to watch teenage sensation Littler get his title defence underway on Thursday. More than half a million pints are expected to be consumed over the three-week tournament.

With tickets selling out in mere minutes, fans are set to make the most of the hottest seat in town by downing gallons of pints in fancy dress while blaring out renditions of their favourite chants.

Up to 750,000 pints of beer are consumed by fans during the three-week tournament. Lucky fans will also have hopes of pocketing £60,000 through Paddy Power‘s nine-dart bonus initiative, which sees £180,000 split between the player, the charity and a random fan if the perfect leg is achieved.

Littler, meanwhile, breezed into the second round on opening night at Alexandra Palace, beating Labanauskas in straight sets with an average just short of 102.

He will only get better, too. ‘I know I can beat some players as soon as I get on the stage,’ he said. ‘I won’t name them.’

It wasn’t as straightforward as The Nuke would have wanted. He was at times tested – Labanauskas taking out 130 in the game and averaging north of 95 himself – but a healthy showing with a 64 per cent success rate on the doubles did the job.

He said after the game, while trying to dodge the famous Ally Pally wasp: ‘It wasn’t easy and looking at he stats it didn’t feel like that. There are a bit of nerves, but when you win a leg or two, it settles down.’
