Trello down as thousands and thousands of individuals worldwide unable to entry important system
Chaos has erupted among technology-loving workers this morning – Trello is down. For the unaware, Trello is a workflow management system which many (including the Daily Star) rely heavily on to get through a work day.
But reports started to come in around 5am today that the app and website were not working. The Daily Star was indeed greeted with an error message stating: “We’re having trouble loading this board. Check your connection and try refreshing the page.”
Software company Atlassian, who are responsible for Trello have finally responded to the issue, around two hours after it started, and after hundreds of reports of it being down flooded websites like Down Detector.
On their status page, a spokesman said they were “investigating” and added: “We are actively investigating reports of a service disruption affecting Trello users. We’ll share updates here as they become available or within the hour.”
There is a slightly funny side to the outage, as spotted on social media, with many claiming that they “simply can not work today” . . . if only that were true.
If you really don’t know what Trello is, it is essentially a digital whiteboard for organizing just about anything. Think of a bulletin board covered in color-coded sticky notes.
You create boards for big projects, like planning a wedding or launching a website. On the board, you make vertical lists to represent workflow stages, like “To Do,” “In Progress,” and “Done.” Each card within a list is a specific task.
You can drag cards between lists as you make progress, add checklists, attachments, and assign team members.
It’s highly visual, making it easy to see exactly what needs to happen and who is responsible, keeping everyone on the same page without endless email chains.
The reason for the outage has not yet been made clear, but the company behind it are calling it a “500 error”.
