Hamas ‘second-in-command’ Ra’ad Sa’d ‘eradicated’ as Israeli forces concern assertion
Writing in a statement, an IDF spokesperson has confirmed the death of Hamas second-in-command Ra’ad Sa’d in an airstrike, saying ‘elimination constitutes a blow to Hamas’s attempts at strengthening’
The IDF has announced the “elimination” of Hamas second-in-command Ra’ad Sa’d in an airstrike. The strike allegedly hit a vehicle at the al-Nabulsi roundabout west of Gaza City, Gaza Strip, leaving four dead and more than 20 wounded.
An Israeli security source has confirmed that Ra’ad Sa’d, Hamas’s deputy leader, was eliminated in the assault. A senior Israeli official has revealed that Israel did not give the Trump administration prior notice of the assassination attempt on Ra’ad Sa’d. Hamas has denounced the attack as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire agreement.
An IDF spokesperson wrote on X: “Every place where we identify that Hamas is trying to regroup, we act. Earlier today, the IDF eliminated Raad Saad, whose elimination constitutes a blow to Hamas’s attempts at regrouping and strengthening. We will not allow our enemies to regroup and rebuild their strength. We will continue to be committed to continuing the ceasefire agreement.”
The much-anticipated Gaza ceasefire has crumbled after the Israeli Prime Minister commanded his forces to unleash “powerful strikes” on the Palestinian territory.
This came after the Israeli PM accused Hamas of a “clear violation” of the peace deal – while Hamas fired back, alleging Israel was responsible for 125 ceasefire breaches.
Israel claims a coffin delivered by Hamas on Monday failed to contain the remains of another dead hostage it was expecting to receive.
It appears the fortnight-long ceasefire has collapsed amid an eruption of violence and widespread strikes being commanded.
Gazan authorities allege that since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, Israel has killed 94 Palestinians within the Strip, reports the Mirror .
In a statement, Hamas accused Israel of attempting to “fabricate false pretexts in preparation for taking new aggressive steps” in Gaza.
The group said Israel is hindering efforts to search for remains in the Strip, and urged mediators to “allow the relevant bodies to carry out their humanitarian tasks away from political and aggressive calculations”.
Israel accused Hamas of wrongly identifying the most recently returned captive’s remains, which belonged to an abductee whose body was recovered two years ago. Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 68,527 people and left 170,395 wounded since it commenced in October 2023.
During the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led assault on Israel, 1,200 people lost their lives and approximately 200 were taken hostage.
