Cristiano Ronaldo blasts ‘lies’ and insists truth will come out in tell-all interview

Cristiano Ronaldo has blasted the “lies” and insisted that the truth will come out in a tell-all interview set to be released soon.

The Manchester United forward has been the subject of continued speculation surrounding his future throughout the summer after the club missed out on Champions League qualification. Having failed to secure a move away from the club before the start of the new season, he returned to training and has since featured in United’s embarrassing start to the campaign.

However, he has now hit back at reports regarding his difficult situation at the club and claimed he will reveal the truth in the coming weeks.

Commenting on an Instagram post on Tuesday night, Ronaldo wrote: “They know the truth when they interview in a couple weeks. The media is telling lies.

“I have a notebook and in the last few month of the 100 news I made, only five were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip.”

Following United’s disappointing sixth placed finish last season, Ronaldo was soon linked with a move away from Old Trafford less than a year after returning to the club.

It had been reported that his agent had offered his services to a host of European clubs in order to secure Ronaldo Champions League football, including the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Ronaldo was also late returning for pre-season and missed the club’s tour of Thailand and Australia due to “family reasons”, according to a club statement.

He later returned to training just over a week before the new season and played just 45 minutes in the Red Devils’ final pre-season friendly at home to Rayo Vallecano.

Due to his lack of pre-season action, Erik ten Hag chose to start the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on the bench for the season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion, which United lost 2-1.

He returned to the starting line-up on Saturday as United were thrashed 4-0 away at Brentford and dropped to the foot of the table. It has since been claimed that the club’s current crisis is down to Ronaldo’s reported transfer request.
