Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen has revealed he received death threats as a result of Darwin Nunez’s red card on Monday evening.
Nunez headbutted Andersen after the Dane wound up the new Liverpool signing to an extent he saw red. But speaking on Instagram on Tuesday morning, Andersen has revealed he received ‘300-400’ death threats via Instagram DMs in the hours after the match.
The Dane said: “[I] got maybe 3[00]-400 of these messages last night. I understand you support a team and have some respect and stop act[ing] tough online.” Andersen then shared a number of vile threats with him being called a ‘scumbag’ and threats to kill his entire family.

In one shared screengrab, a troll seemingly from Russia threatened: “F*** you. I will kill you. You and your family. F*** you tomorrow. See you. You will died.”
According to the BBC, the Premier League are aware of the issue, and they will be reaching out to Crystal Palace to offer help. Andersen told Viaplay after the game: “The whole game I sat really close to him, I annoyed him a lot and did well against him!
“I think that’s why he was a little bit angry with me. In that situation, he headbutted me, the first one, at a cross, and I told him he shouldn’t do that. I was angry with him. Then he did it again which is, for me, really stupid. A clear red card!”
Andersen and Crystal Palace frustrated Liverpool at Anfield, and the Eagles even took the lead through Wilfried Zaha just before half-time.
Luis Diaz brilliantly struck back after Liverpool were reduced to ten men, but Palace held firm to claim a point.
