Despite the collective laugh we all had at the expense of Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Rodolfo Castro, Major League Baseball still decided to punish the player for having a phone in his pocket.
Castro was sliding into third base during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on August 9th, when his cellphone fell out of his back pocket.
The clip of Castro went viral almost instantly, but it appears MLB officials didn’t find the incident all that funny.
The league announced they were suspending Castro one game and fined him an undisclosed amount of money for violating league policy by taking the field with a phone.

‘I don’t think there’s any professional ballplayer that would ever go out there with any intentions of taking a cellphone,’ Castro told Pittsburgh media members via an interpreter.
‘It’s horrible it happened to me. Obviously, it was very unintentional.’
He is appealing his suspension, which allows him to continue to play until his appeal is heard and ruled on.
