Tottenham continue staffing reshuffle by appointing Leonardo Gabbanini as chief scout

Former Watford scout Leonardo Gabbanini has been named chief scout at Tottenham.

It comes after a number of high-profile staffing appointments at the club, as part of Fabio Paratici’s plan to improve Spurs’ recruitment.

As well as bringing in experienced staff from other European clubs, Tottenham have also appointed two Premier League legends to their academy staff in Jermain Defoe and Yaya Toure.

According to reports in the Evening Standard, Gabbanini has been working with Spurs since July and is looking at ‘restructuring their scouting network’.

They also reported that 19-year-old defender Udinese Destiny Udogie is close to agreeing terms for a £15 million move to North London.

Gabbanini will know Udogie well after working a joint role for the Italian club and Watford until May.

The teenager would likely provide cover on the left side for Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic, although the short-term plan is to loan him back to Udinese for the rest of the season

Harry Kane earned  the club a late point against Chelsea on Saturday with an injury-time goal

Spurs continued their solid start to the Premier League season on Sunday with a frantic 2-2 draw with London rivals Chelsea.

Both managers were sent off after an altercation on the touchline, as Tottenham snatched a point thanks to a 96th minute goal from Harry Kane.

They play their next game at home against Wolves in the early kick-off on Saturday.
