Wesley Fofana claims Leicester City are pricing him out of a transfer to Chelsea

Chelsea target Wesley Fofana has let it be known that he believes Leicester are pricing him out of a move to Stamford Bridge as they stand by their £85m valuation.

The 21-year-old is hoping Chelsea’s next offer will be accepted, with the two clubs having been wide apart on a transfer fee.

Chelsea have already had bids of £60m and £65m rejected as they seek to bolster their options in central defence.

Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has been a summer transfer target for Chelsea

Personal terms between the Blues and the defender had been agreed last week.

Although Fofana only agreed a new five-year Leicester deal back in March, he has been keen to move to Stamford Bridge where he can expect a much improved deal worth around £200,000 per week.

Despite Leicester’s reluctance to sell, boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted recently that ‘naturally if there is interest from other clubs then of course that is looked at by the club.’

Fofana has continued to play for the Foxes at the start of the Premier League season

Fofana has continued to feature for Leicester at the start of this season, playing 90 minutes in their opening day 2-2 draw at home against Brentford before also playing the full match at Arsenal where he was booked during the 4-2 loss.

The Blues have been looking for new defensive options for much of the summer following the exits of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger who both left for Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively following the expiration of their contracts.

Kalidou Koulibaly has been a major summer signing after coming in from Napoli for £34million but now Thomas Tuchel wishes to grab a second defender having already missed out on Nathan Ake, Matthijs de Ligt, Jules Kounde and Presnel Kimpembe.

Tuchel’s outfit have also had an eye RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, but the Bundesliga side are also keen to hold onto the 20-year-old.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also still looking to bring in a striker before the end of the window to replace the departed duo of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

The Blues have held talks with Barcelona over a deal involving ex-Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The cash strapped Spanish side want £21million for the Gabon star – who only joined the club in January.

However, Blues full-back Marcos Alonso could also be included as part of a player swap deal.
