In the picture, the man can be seen with four large containers, brazenly filling one of them with water at the time.

Dressed in a white t-shirt, dark trousers and boots, the man was calmly scrolling through his phone waiting for the theft to be completed.

In her post to the Facebook group, the woman wrote: ‘Some cheeky b**** came into my garden today and filled up his watering containers, caught on camera, make sure your gates are fully locked.’

She continued by saying the thief would not have another chance to do so as the taps will be turned off from now and that she was sick of have to ‘nail everything down’ or lock her things up like ‘fort knox’.

As eight areas of the UK officially declared drought, it would seem the hot weather is coming to an end as the Met Office issued yellow warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain for this week

The post did not reveal whether or not the woman had reported the stranger to the police.

The incident comes as several parts of the UK have introduced hosepipe bans as drought was declared in eight areas, amid much of the UK’s driest July since 1935.

However, the blisteringly hot weather is coming to an end, with the Met Office issuing yellow warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain across the country this week.

Hosepipe bans have already been introduced across the UK and Thames Water announced today that Londoners will see a ban from August 24.
