Man Utd tipped to be sold within 24 months as ‘people circle’ to buy out the Glazers

There are people circling around Manchester United and the club could be sold within 24 months.

That is the verdict from football agent Jon Smith, who insists that there could be new owners at Old Trafford in the future. It comes as the ownership of the Glazers comes under the microscope yet again.

The Red Devils have been in a state of limbo since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, tip-tapping year on year in the Premier League without truly ever looking like the dominant force they once were. Millions have been poorly spent under successive managers and Erik ten Hag is the latest coach desperately trying to piece things together.

However, fans who are yearning for a change in ownership have some good news after Smith told talkSPORT there are people looking to buy United from the Glazers. He said: “Manchester United, I believe, will be sold within the next 24 months. There are people circling.

“The fact of the matter is that there are six siblings who are currently in the ownership, that’s a big number to get everyone to walk out in a straight line together, so it may or may not [happen].

“I just get the feeling from the people over there that it they get a sentiment that it may be an option.

“Here’s another addendum to that. Who knows what the Chelsea takeover cost, £2billion a change? A lot of the £3bn to £4bn was loan paybacks and various other things that were bolted on, but it was probably £2.5bn, heading towards £3bn, which kind of rerates Arsenal and Liverpool and the others.

“On a global income basis, nothing touches Manchester United, they’re in a league of their own.”

More protests are planned ahead of Monday night when the Red Devils host Liverpool at Old Trafford. In May 2021, the match was abandoned after fans broke into the stadium and into the dressing rooms.
