Stephen A Smith lets rip at the ‘trash’ Yankees and warns they can’t let Mets win World Series

Stephen A Smith has launched a furious tirade against the New York Yankees and their awful form, insisting they stink ‘worse than the sewers in the Bronx’.

The Yankees, previously the best team in baseball this year, are in the middle of an awful run of form, losing five series in a row and going 2-11 in their last 13.

Smith, a New York native and well-known fan of the team, didn’t hold back in his ‘First Take’ ESPN show Wednesday, urging the team to turn around their worrying slump.

Stephen A Smith made his feelings very clear in a rant at the out-of-form New York Yankees

The Bronx Bombers are 11-2 in recent weeks and struggling to maintain their pre-All Star form

‘The Yankees: you look like trash right now. You look like flat-out trash,’ he began. ‘You’re worse than how it smells from the sewers in the Bronx. And I was born in the Bronx, I know what the hell I’m talking about. I’ve taken the D train many times in my life, I got family on Webster Avenue, for crying out loud.

‘Y’all straight garbage. There’s more expected from the New York Yankees. Aaron Judge, you got 48 home runs, I appreciate that, but damn – you 0 for 4 last night, 1 for 14 over the last four games. Why y’all bleeding?’

The Yankees have lost two straight games against the Tampa Bay Rays this week, and risk their lead at the top of the AL East slipping even further if they are beaten again at Yankee Stadium tonight.

Next week, the rival Mets are in the Bronx for a two-game Subway Series, and there could yet be more embarrassment on the cards for the Pinstripes.

He also criticized Aaron Judge (right), who has struggled to keep up his brilliant form of late

‘Come on, y’all. The New York Mets are coming,’ Stephen A continued. ‘They got an owner that’s the closest emulation, the closest replica to George Steinbrenner. Steve Cohen got money, and he’s willing to spend.

‘I don’t know if y’all notice… you see the way the ball coming out of the hand of DeGrom? He looks unstoppable. I’m worried about the Mets because I’m a Yankees fan.

‘Let me tell you what can’t happen in New York City, Aaron Boone, if you wanna keep your job. The Mets can’t be in the World Series and the Yankees home. Even Hankin’ Hal ain’t tolerating that.’

As it stands, both New York teams have a 99.9% chance of making it to the postseason given their leads at the top of their respective divisions, but on recent form it would be the Mets expecting to go deep.
