Arsenal fans worry Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea deal will come back to haunt them

Arsenal supporters have been left torn over the news Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to discuss personal terms with Chelsea – with some fearing he come back to haunt them.

The 33-year-old could make a swift return to the Premier League to reunite with Thomas Tuchel after scoring 13 goals across 23 fixtures for Barcelona – who are now keen to sell.

Although the former Gunner skipper scored 92 goals for the club across his 163 appearances, his poor form and relationship with Mikel Arteta saw him leave Arsenal by mutual decision. Just six months later, Fabrizio Romano reports Chelsea are set to discuss contract length with the player – with an official bid set to follow.

With a second adding: “Aubameyang will come back to haunt us? @Arsenal please do something.”

A third continued: “Aubameyang gonna be unreal at Chelsea ffs.”

However, there are those who are not feeling at all concerned due to the form of Aubameyang in the Premier League before he joined Barcelona.

One fan said: “Not at all concerned tbh he had some great times for us but at the end he wasn’t exactly pulling up trees.”

With a second writing: “I know a bunch of people will be upset but I don’t really care honestly, especially how it ended here.”

And a third adding: “He’ll let them down like he eventually does with everyone. Nowhere near the player he was when he joined us.”

Arteta said of Aubameyang’s exit earlier this month: “It’s a long time since that happened. I cannot go back every time there is another series. I have made my comments on that.

“I was really clear and honest with my opinion and what has been done has only been done to defend our club and put the club in the best possible position while being as clear, as honest and as consistent as we can be.”

Arteta added: “Auba is an exceptional player. He did so much for us – he was our captain and we have to be very grateful for what he did for this club.”
