Family of Brit killed by helicopter blade in Greece ‘horrified’ over ‘glaring errors’

The father of Jack Fenton, who was killed after coming into contact with the blade of a helicopter rotor, has raged over “glaring errors”.

Miguel Fenton said his 22-year-old son was “very funny, thoughtful, caring, absolutely gorgeous hearted”.

He had been holidaying in Mykanos, Greece with pals when he was killed instantly by contact with the rota at the end of July.

He had been on his way home when he lost his life, with investigators in Greece saying initially he had ignored safety instructions and had tried to take a photograph with the helicopter, leading to death – but this has since been retracted.

Speaking to ITV News Tori Fenton, mother of the Kent-raised Oxford Brookes student said: “We were completely gobsmacked and horrified… His supper was in the fridge and the back door was unlocked for him.”

Discussing the suggestion he had been taking a selfie, she said: “We’re having to defend our son and we shouldn’t have to, we know he’s not that stupid.

“Everyone that was there said it was nothing of the sort and it makes me angry.”

Miguel added it was, “brutal in every manner to imagine it even though you weren’t there. Don’t ever want to think that of your child”.
