Man Utd target Asmir Begovic’s wife celebrated last move by wearing new shirt on a horse

A transfer in football can make or break a career, and it should certainly be celebrated accordingly, especially when it’s a big one.

And Asmir Begovic could be about to get the biggest of his career so far, as Manchester United have emerged as a shock contender to sign the Everton goalkeeper according to The Telegraph. The Bosnian is currently Everton’s no.2, after playing for the likes of Chelsea, Stoke City, Bournemouth and even AC Milan throughout his career.

Begovic has played for 11 clubs during his 17-year career, but his most recent move to Everton was celebrated in unique way by his wife. She posted pictures wearing Everton’s strip while sat on her beloved horse, and the same can be expected should he move to United.

Begovic’s career has been a unique one, as he’s fluctuated between guaranteed starter and back-up goalkeeper at an array of different clubs. The Premier League winner is currently the understudy to Jordan Pickford, but with United needing a new no.2, they’ve been linked with a surprise move for the Bosnian.

And after Begovic’s wife posed for pictures in an Everton shirt on top of her horse, she could be preparing to wear the famous Red strip before the window slams shut in less than two weeks time. United’s former no.2 was Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

However, after a savage interview it’s unlikely he will be wanted back at the club, as he branded his employers as ‘criminal’ for not sticking to their word. He’s claimed they promised him the no.1 jersey last summer but then kept him on the bench and wouldn’t let him leave in January while David de Gea continued to start.

“To be quite honest with you, it’s probably been the toughest 12 months of my career,” Henderson told talkSPORT. “It’s been tough, it’s been hard and I’m so happy I’ve come out the other end of it now.

“The conversation I had, coming out of the [England] Euros squad, was that you’re coming back here to be the No1 goalkeeper. I got Covid, then unfortunately no one followed through with anything they told me.

“It’s frustrating as well, because I turned so many good loans down last summer for that reason and they wouldn’t let me go. To sit there and waste 12 months is criminal, really, at my age. I was fuming.”

Begovic is happy to be no.2, meaning that he will be a lot easier to deal with for new manager Erik ten Hag. De Gea has made a rocky start to the season though, and the pressure from Begovic could be needed.
