Divers have retrieved a man’s body from a popular Melbourne waterway after a shocked passer-by came across the grim discovery on their lunchtime walk.
Emergency services were called to Coburg Lake in the city’s north around 12.30pm on Thursday following reports of a body in the water.
A passer-by walking in the park raised the alarm after spotting the horrific find.
Officers cordoned off the area while search and rescue divers retrieved the unidentified man’s body from the lake.
‘Police are working to identify the man and will await the results of a post mortem to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death,’ a spokeswoman said.
