An Indiana widow who is alleged to have killed her firefighter husband in the driveway of their home has been charged with murder, three years after his death.
Elizabeth Fox-Doerr, 50, allegedly executed husband Robert Doerr after he came home from a 12-hour shift as a firefighter in February 2019.
She was only charged perjury this week but faces charges or murder. She has been in jail since last month after she was initially charged having lied about deleting cellphone records involving her ‘lover.’
An alleged accomplice in the killing, 41-year-old Larry Ali Richmond Sr., also from Evansville, has been in jail on weapons charges since 2019.

Richmond had been in a relationship with Fox-Doerr when Robert, who was a firefighter for nearly 30 years in Evansville, was murdered.
‘This senseless selfish act will forever leave a void of Robby’s family, his friends and his co-workers,’ Evansville Police Chief Billy Bolin said at a press conference on Thursday. ‘Today is the first step in seeing some type of justice for Robbie.’
Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Larson said the charges meant the community was finally able to have ‘some closure’ over Doerr’s loss.

‘The citizens of Evansville lost a firefighter who always went above and beyond the call of duty to save lives and property. Even more importantly, he was a son, a brother, a father and grandfather,’ Larson explained at a press conference.
‘We are relieved that the long wait is over and the individuals involved in this murder are being brought to justice for not only Robby’s murder but the pain they have caused his family, his friends and our department,’ chief Larson continued.
The sudden movement in the case and Fox-Doerr’s arrest came after Richmond is said to have confessed to a fellow inmate who is also serving time.
Richmond confessed to the murder while in jail adding that he had been in a relationship with Elizabeth Fox-Doerr.
Fox-Doerr is also alleged to have called Richmond to speak with him on the phone for around five minutes prior to the murder taking place.
There was no record of such a call being placed on her cellphone after she deleted the call record from her phone not wanting investigators to think she was having an affair.
Fox-Doerr is being held on a $50,000 bond for the perjury charge.
