Meghan Markle slams royals with podcast ‘hidden message over treatment’, expert says

Meghan Markle hit out at the Royal Family with a hidden message for the Firm in her new podcast over “unfair” treatment, an expert claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex finally released her first Archetypes podcast on Tuesday nearly two years after signing her lucrative contract with streaming service Spotify.

Meghan, in conversation with tennis icon Serena Williams, revealed that her ambition had taken a hit when she started dating her now-husband Prince Harry.

Meghan’s alleged hidden message for the Royal Family came in an introduction to her interview with Williams, where the Duchess said: “I don’t remember ever personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ambitious until I started dating my now husband.

“Apparently ambition is a terrible, terrible thing, for a woman that is – according to some. Since I’ve felt the negativity behind it, it’s really hard to un-feel it.

“I can’t un-see it, either, in the millions of girls and women who make themselves smaller – so much smaller – on a regular basis.”

Comments from the Duchess of Sussex on the “negative connotation” she experienced with her own ambition are said to have started at the same time Meghan Markle became involved in a relationship with Prince Harry.

Meghan’s apparent jab at the Royal Family with her hidden message was one of many tactics the Sussexes often deploy, expert Daly claims.

She said: “It checked all the Sussex boxes: cameo from spouse, A-list celebrity guest, an expert in the field to help give authority, fun personal antidotes, light-heartedness and laughter, and a little bit about how the world/media/royals have treated the Sussexes unfairly.”

The royal commentator also criticised the podcast for failing to reach its “lofty goal” of having Meghan perceived as “an authority and expert on women’s empowerment”.

She added: “While there was talk about ambition, and a quick little discussion with expert Professor Laura Kray of UC Berkeley, most of the episode and antidotes weren’t directly related to ambition and in no way ‘subverted the label’.”
