A woman has explained why a safe space has been created for people who want casual relationships, saying “everyone deserves pleasure and good sex”.
Alice Leach, 33, is the Creative Director of casual dating app – TapDat – and she said it’s important for people to have a safe space to experiment sexually.
Even though she admitted she wouldn’t say there’s a casual dating “trend”, she said there are people who are solely looking to hook up for sex.

There are some people who don’t want love – they want freedom, experimentation and the ability to explore their sexuality without commitment.
This is why TapDat is offering a positive community where openness and honesty pay off, and casual daters have the chance to mingle with other people who know exactly what they want.
Alice said: “It’s still a form of dating, but without the traditional conventions.
“We say honesty is at the core of all relationships.
“Everyone comes with the same intention.
“There is nobody looking for love and marriage – I’m not saying that couldn’t happen if they made a connection – but it’s not why people are coming to the table.
“It’s a situation where everyone knows why they’re coming through the door.”
As a woman in her early 30s, Alice said she’s spent some time on dating apps, just like many of her friends.
She said the good thing about TapDat is that people know what they are looking for, and they can be completely honest about it.
Alice explained that when people use other apps to find casual affairs it can “start to cause friction”, as they may match with people who hope to find love.
This is what makes the app so different, and she said consent lies at the heart of all of its features.
“The community is consent focused,” added Alice.
“It starts with the core principles of trust and consent.
“Sometimes consent is only talked about when something has gone totally wrong, but consent is important to how you act towards your self pleasure.
“We have a lot content from the basics like what safe sex looks like.
“We also advise STI tests.”
While it’s vital for people to have a space where they feel comfortable to explore their sexuality and their kinks, Alice says the app also provides valuable sex education.
There are tools where people can learn more about sexual health, condom use and lubrication alongside discovering preferences of sexual pleasure.
As well as this, users don’t have to accept every message – they have the chance to respond, not to respond or have a look at another user’s profile before replying to any requests.
So – essentially – it’s been made as safe as possible to help people connect effectively.
Alice said: “I think it’s important to have a space where everybody feels empowered to experiment with their own pleasure.
“For women in particular, I’m extremely proud about it.
“The old-fashioned and misogynistic view that women shouldn’t experience pleasure from sex – if that’s something that I can help work towards becoming a thing of the past – then I will be most proud of myself.
“We still have an orgasm and pleasure gap.”
The app developer is keen for people to become advocates for their own pleasure, and she said if the app helps people to achieve this then she’ll be more than happy.
She added: “Everyone deserves pleasure and good sex.”
