Knights star Kurt Mann confronted two BURGLARS inside his house before they got away

Injured Knights star Kurt Mann confronted two burglars at his home in Newcastle on Sunday, who managed to steal his house and car keys.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Knights utility heard noises at around 3am and found two men standing inside the property when he went to investigate.

It is understood there was no physical struggle and both Mann and his partner, who was also at home when the break-in happened, were unharmed.

The burglars, however, managed to grab a set of car and house keys before making their way out via the back door.

Mann has been sidelined since Round 17 with a hamstring injury, the second major setback of the season after he missed six games earlier in the campaign with a concussion and an ankle injury.

The 29-year-old made headlines earlier this month after being kicked out of a toilet cubicle in a Newcastle hotel along with teammate Kalyn Ponga, who was also sidelined with an injury.

The Knights skipper and Mann were asked to leave the facilities at the Delany Hotel in Newcastle’s CBD two weeks ago in controversial circumstances.

The Knights duo were subsequently drug tested by the NRL just days after the incident

Ponga’s father, Andre, claimed Mann was helping his son, who had enjoyed one too many beverages as he celebrated buying a property.

‘He made an exciting house purchase Saturday and celebrated with a few mates drinking. Sick in the toilet and his mate went in to help him,’ Ponga senior told the Daily Telegraph on Monday.

That explanation was heavily scrutinised, with some onlookers questioning why the pair decided to take their drinks into the cubicle if Ponga was feeling unwell.

However, Fox Sports subsequently revealed that the Queensland star was in fact not drunk when he was filmed leaving the toilet, with Knight officials told that the pair spent no more than 25 minutes at the Delaney Hotel.
