Chris Eubank Jr has responded to claims his father has cancelled his fight with Conor Benn by seemingly playing mind games with his rival on Instagram. Eubank Jr and Benn were set to face off in all-British bout on October 8.
Despite this it was reported that Eubank Jr had been pulled from the bout by his namesake father, due to concerns about his son meeting the weight required to fight. Eubank Snr revealed to The Times that he was worried about his son’s health to meet the 157lb weight, admitting he did not want to lose another child, after his younger son Sebastian passed away last year.
The former WBO middleweight and super-middleweight champion said: “My son is a warrior, he will fight anyone. But I told him, you cannot go beneath 160, and he’s gone down to 157. It cannot happen.

“That is called suicide. I don’t do that to my son. I’m not putting him in that field. I am managing my son’s career. Irrespective of what he has said, irrespective of what he has written down and signed, it can’t happen. I’ve already lost one son.” Following Eubank’s dad’s comments, his opponent Benn has hit out at the 32-year-old.
As a result, the fighter took to Instagram to poke fun at Eubank Jr, showing his 29,000 followers that he had been in a sparring session with fellow boxer Felix Cash, adding the caption: “Just sparred 10 rounds… While someone’s having DADDY ISSUES.”

Eubank though has now had some fun of his own on the social media site, uploading a video to his story showing him enjoying a banquet of food despite the need for him to drop weight to fight.
The clip shows the 32-year-old’s table full of all sorts of sweet treats, before he himself takes a big bite into one of the desserts.
Eubank Jr last bout against Liam Williams saw him successfully drop to 160lbs, but his dad has assured him it is too dangerous to go any lower. As well as his mocking video on his Instagram story, the 32-year-old also responded to Benn by commenting on his ‘daddy issues’ post.
Taking to the comments section, Eubank Jr wrote: “It’s ok my son… You’ll be having some serious daddy issues too whenever we step into that ring. As your fatherly figure I will teach you all the lessons you need to learn to become the man you always aspired to be.”
