Royal fans slam Meghan Markle and Harry for ‘shunning protocol’ at Queen Procession

Royal fans have slammed the Prince Harry and Meghan, for the way they conducted themselves during the Queen’s procession.

The couple, who have been at the centre of a number of royal controversies in recent years, drew the ire of the public for appearing to hold hands as they walked as part of the column of mourners in Westminster today (Wednesday, September 14).

Emotions are running high around the country, with many mourning the Queen’s loss in a deeply personal way, with thousands queueing to catch a glimpse of the closed coffin of the late Her Majesty the Queen.

After one final visit to the building so closely associated with her reign, a procession of military personnel and royals walked behind her coffin from there to the Palace of Westminster, where she will lie-in-state until her funeral on Monday, September 19.

But as the royal procession carried on along London’s famous streets and into the Palace, some people were frustrated when they noticed Harry and Meghan holding hands, feeling it was inappropriate.

Taking to Twitter, the angered royal fans were quick to share their thoughts on the actions of the grieving family members.

@KarenlovesGB said: “Why do Meghan & Harry have to hold hands. Have to be different and shun protocol.”

@HendryShirley added: “Why the hell is Meghan needing to hold hands with Harry during a very formal moment for the Queen? The woman has no respect, what is wrong with her!”

This was echoed by @DubaiAce, who commented: “Why do Harry and Meghan have to hold hands when no one else does? It’s not very Royal on such a sombre occasion.”

Many echoed they felt it was a matter of ‘protocol’. @JShortland1967 commented: “The protocol for Royals is to not hold hands. It’s just not done. An exception is made here as Meghan clearly doesn’t know this and the couple are being allowed actions inappropriate for our Royals.”

@LaineyL10 weighed in adding: “The Royal Family leave our beloved Queen in Westminster Hall with grace and dignity except for Harry and Meghan who just have to hold hands like two lovesick teenagers. They really get on my nerves.”

Harry and Meghan are under no obligation to follow royal protocol as they are no longer working members of The Firm, and not everyone agreed with the outrage.

Meanwhile, @SussexPrincess encouraged the couple to keep doing what they’re doing saying: “Keep holding hands Harry and Meghan”.

Others were a little more strong with their words.

@yoon_strawberry said: “Share this picture of Prince Harry and Princess Meghan holding hands lovingly to p*** off some deranged royalists today.”

Others pointed out that Mike Tindall and Zara Phillips were also spotted holding hands as they paid their respects to Her Majesty.
