A 37-year-old man was stabbed to death after complaining to a customer who failed to say ‘thank you’ when he held the door open for him at a Brooklyn smoke shop as NYC‘s crime continues to spiral.
The incident happened at around 10.20pm on Tuesday after the victim, who has not been named, held the door open for a customer walking into the 4th Ave Tobacco Road Corp in Gowanus.
The victim asked the suspect why he did not say thank you and became angry, reported the New York Post.
After an argument outside, the victim punched the customer who was trying to flee and he was then fatally stabbed in the neck and abdomen by him.
Reports claim that the victim taunted the suspect and said ‘Stab me if you can do it’ before he was slashed.
He fell back into the shop entrance bleeding heavily and according to shop employee Kharef Alsaidi, he screamed: ‘He stabbed me, he stabbed me.’
The victim was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Speaking to ABC7, Alsaidi explained how events unfolded: ‘It was just about not saying ‘thank you’ for opening the door for him.
He said the victim asked: ‘Why don’t you say, Thank you for opening the door?’
It led to the suspect saying that he did not ask the victim to open the door for him.
The employee said he had tried to deescalate the problem and get the suspect to put the knife away but it did not work.

Police have not yet caught the suspect, who left the scene on his e-bike. He was heading south on Fourth Avenue toward Carroll Street.
Sources said that the man wore a black sweater, white shirt and jeans and was carrying a black backpack.
The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
